Elder Abuse Prevention — Placer County PROTECT is a program established by the Placer County District Attorney’s Office with a team of trained staff dedicated to supporting elder victims and prosecuting criminals who take advantage of elderly citizens of Placer County.

Assisted Living Waiver Program is available in Sacramento County (and some other counties) and is run by the Department of Health Care Services to assist people who are eligible for Medi-Cal with care needs equivalent to those receiving care in nursing facilities and are instead willing and safely able to reside in assisted living facilities or public subsidized housing.

License verification for the State of California is where licenses for all types of health facilities (including nursing homes) can be checked.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a program in available to seniors and disabled persons in the State of California run through the Department of Social Services that helps pay for services provided to you so that you can stay safely in your own home.

US Department of Health and Human Services has a website to give basic information to consumers regarding long term care.  It is a federal website and not specific to California.
